What are some of the symptoms of a panic attack?
Experiencing panic attacks can be damaging if you don’t know what they are. Tons of people have panic attacks, some have them more regularly than others. Whether often or rare, anxiety attacks generate similar feelings of fear and of being helpless. A panic attack is commonly known as an anxiety attack. Panic attacks are experienced by many people without the victim even knowing it. Because panic attacks can vary widely from individual to individual, they are often difficult to diagnose. Being aware of how a panic attack feels is a big part of figuring out how to respond and cope with them.
A panic attack can last for an hour or less and can come with no forewarning. A sudden, overwhelming sensation of fear is a major symptom. This is caused by an substance created in out body called adrenalin, which is created when we are faced with fear or danger, whether it is real or imagined. An above normal level of adrenaline is the cause of many panic attack symptoms. Fast heart rate, fear of danger, feeling of dread, upset stomach, trembling, fast breathing, fainting, dizziness and occasional diarrhea or frequent urination are the symptoms. Feeling alienated from your social network and surroundings is a symptom of a panic attack.
An individual suffering a panic attack may not be aware of what’s happening and may think they are suffering from a more serious health condition like heart attack. But frequently, just being aware of what a panic attack feels like and preparing yourself in advance is effective in causing short term respite to the patient.
Many people avoid discussing their panic attacks, and regularly ignore them instead of getting help. Frequently the reason they do this is a feeling of shame and the belief that it is only in their mind. Fear of having a panic attack has often been said to bring one on suddenly because the body is in a steady dread of a panic attack starting without warning. Although, they usually do come on without warning, some individuals say they often get certain warning symptoms that let them know they have a panic attack approaching.
There are several common symptoms that will help you to identify what a panic attack feels. Some of them are Chest Pains, Rapid or irregular heartbeat. Vertigo or dizzy feeling The inability to take a deep and or full breath. Some symptoms can include numbness in the hands, sudden flashes of hot and cold, and extreme conditions of nervousness or shyness
The sense of impending death and loss of control are common symptoms which can strike someone during a panic attack. Unfortunately many people that suffer from panic attacks do not seek treatment. Therapy and/or medication are effective ways of treating panic attacks. Although panic attacks may affect a wide variety of people for no apparent reason, in some situations they’re a sign of a health problem or a result of stress, illness or past injury. These are but a few of the many reasons why panic attack sufferers should seek aid as soon as possible.
