Millions of people feel the effects of panic attacks every day. Panic attacks are a regular thing for some people. Yet then there are quite a few of us who go our full lives without ever knowing we have symptoms of panic attacks. What causes this you may ask yourself? What is the causing our bodies to go into states of panic? Quite often, sufferers believe that the way to get help is to first answer the “why”.

There are many symptoms that acompany panic attacks, but the primary symptoms are defined as sudden and abrupt feelings of severe discomfort or fear. A few of these symptoms are heart palpitations, sweating, loss of control, and difficulty breathing. 10 percent of the population go through some form of panic attacks but, only five percent will develop full panic attack disorders. Often, those who don’t experience panic attacks don’t realise the severity and believe the effects are being exaggerated. But then, people who do suffer from panic attacks often consider them the most terrifying event one can go through.

Even medical professionals can’t tell you for sure why people go through panic attacks. Even more confusing, they don’t know what causes some people to experience and others not to. Doctors do find a lot of evidence that stress plays a large part in panic attacks. Although we all experience some stress at times, accumulation of stress greatly increases panic in a person. Reaction to sudden panicky events are very often manifested through panic attacks. Everybody’s heard the quote “Stress can kill you” before. It also does a wonderful job of pulling out nasty panic attacks!
A persons genetic makeup which differs from person to person is what allows some people to be more likely to suffer from panic attacks. Families will have multiple members who also suffer from panic attacks as they are hereditary. Besides genetics, the environment will also play a part in whether or not a person will go through life with panic disorders.
An increased blood pressure rate or high blood pressure in general are physical contributions to panic attacks. Panic is caused often from high blood pressure raising a persons excitement. Another cause for why people have panic attacks is a lack of certain vitamins and minerals. Lacking enough magnesium, for example, has been shown to contribute to panic states.
Panic attacks can also be attributed to thyroid issues. Elevated blood pressure can be a sign of too much thyroid hormone in the body caused by an overactive thyroid gland. Flushing, sweating and panic are generally caused by the preceding signs. No matter the reason, panic attacks are cause alot problems in person’s life when left untreated and should be addressed as quickly as possible.
