Panic Attacks and Depression
An estimated five percent of United States residents suffer from anxiety attacks and depression. You might notice that depression often leads to elevated levels of anxiety . Often people with anxiety attacks never seek help because they are fearful of what could be happening. Symptoms of panic attacks often resemble symptoms of breathing or heart problems.
People that have both anxiety attacks and depression, but who are not diagnosed for both conditions, may continue to suffer until both are diagnosed and an effective treatment regimen is put into place. Depression is hard to spot at times, but once you are certain you have it you should really do everything that you can to try to end it.
It is common for depressed people to feel sad, alone, constant boredom, or even unloved. If you’re depressed, you might be an insomniac or deal with higher than average anxiety. You might have constant panic or anxiety disorders if you experience this higher level of anxiety for a sustained time. You might start to form a phobia if you experience panic attacks and start to associate them with certain things or going to certain places. Add this to depression and the feelings that there is no hope for improvement, and you’ll soon find yourself in a bad situation.
Experts are beginning to discover that anxiety disorders and depression accompany one another more often that first thought. It is fairly easy to understand why both anxiety disorders and depression could come together. It is common practice for doctors to give anti-depressants to people that have either depression or anxiety disorders.
Many people with depression do not even realize they are depressed. If one of these individuals has a panic attack, they may find themselves very fearful. You might think you’re having a heart attack or that you are going to die. With depression you could find that you are too afraid to find help. If you don’t know what is going on, your anxiety levels will skyrocket higher and make things even worse.
If you have a panic episode, you might just brush it off and think nothing of it until you experience a second panic episode. If you have anxiety attack and depression, know that you are not the only one out there. It is easy to start feeling overwhelmed and start obsessing about nearly everything. You might even start to feel that things are so bad that there is no hope for improvement and treatment would just be pointless.
Many people have found that treatment options for depression and panic attacks to be quite effective. You might need medication to turn down the volume on the anxiety and depression so you can start to cope with any underlying mental issues. But with some time and determination you will soon recover from panic attacks and depression.
