Psychotherapy is a technique used by trained psychotherapists to help individuals increase their sense of well-being, through the use of intentional interpersonal human relationship. There is a range of approaches that is utilized to improve the general physical and mental health of a a client. Psychotherapy is done by psychologists, accredited clinical caseworker, psychiatric nurses, counselors, and shrinks.

There are numerous systems of psychotherapy such as anxiety behavior therapy, body psychotherapy, brief therapy, cognitive behavior, existential, humanistic, psychoanalysis, psychodynamic, systematic therapy, transpersonal therapy, and so forth.

Anxiety cognitive therapy helps people alter their perception of things. We all have a set of opinions and feelings relative to our environments. A number of these impressions are too rigid or strong, and with this therapy, the sufferer learns to modify these notions so that they turn less intense. 

Anxiety cognitive therapy has been successfully employed to address anxiety disorders, depression, phobic neuroses and many other psychological disorders.  The main idea is to discern the twisted thinking, and then learn to substitute it with more realistic and positive thoughts and ideas. It is considered that depression and anxiety are tied in with blind views, and anxiety cognitive therapy is utilized together with mood stabilizing medicinal drugs to deal with these conditions.

The anxiety cognitive therapy was invented by Aaron Beck and Albert Ellis in the 1950s, and has come a long way since that time. The therapy is founded on discerning the behaviors and thoughts that influence emotions and feelings. Stressed or depressed individuals commonly have automatically pessimistic logical styles, that lead to pessimistic feelings and they are not aware of these distortions. Anxiety cognitive therapy brings these cognitive aberrations into a person’s conscious focus so that these distortions may be oriented by using rational thinking. Using continual repetitive alterations, the brain learns to produce more positive automatic associations. The research has discovered that the brain can re-pattern the nervous pathways the course of 45 days.

Anxiety cognitive therapy uses the four-column technique, and is a four-step process. The first three steps help analyze the process that has made the individual uneasy or anxious. The initial column is used to record the target situation, the second column is used by the individual to write down the terrible thoughts occurring to them, the third column is used to note down the ensued impaired behaviors and pessimistic feelings, and the fourth column is used to dispute the negative thoughts based on the evidence from experience of the client.
